After a Five Years of it’s functioning the need for registering the Association was felt. In 1979 it was registered under Societies Act as Arunai Friends Association under the presidentship of Sri. G. Seetha raman - quiet, unassuming and able administrator, who was the then R.D.O in Saidapet. Under his able leadership, the Association together with some members acquired a land at Vandalur, Chennai in 1980. Two years later a separate land in Vandalur, diagonally opposite to Railway Station,i.e. the present site (9 grounds approx.) was acquired by selling the land, purchased earlier, to our own members. Initial efforts to put up a compound wall, for the present premises, could not come through. Association also received some money when all the members collectively disposed of the land originally acquired and that amount was maintained as building fund. For sometime the Association was dormant. A team of young members activated it in 1994. Regular meetings and Family meetings are held since then. With lot of deliberations and the co-operation of Joint - Office bearers and Tiruvannamalai Panta Reddiar Chathira Nirvaga Sangam, the task of putting up a compound wall was done in 1999 after sorting out some problems with the neighbouring owners. The compound wall, gate and bore well costed nearly Rs.2.25 lakhs. As we entered the Silver Jubilee year the idea of putting up a building to commemorate the Silver Jubilee at the Association site was agreed. It is certainly not an easy task but a desirable venture. Office Bearers tried their best to offer opportunities to members to participate and also recognise their effort through valuable mementos to every member who has mobilised Rs.10,000/ - or more through various schemes.
